Here I am

Isaiah 6: 1-8, ( 9-13)v 8 “ Then I heard the Lord asking “Whom shall I send as a messenger to this people?” Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Isaiah had a vision and in it he saw the Lord. Amazing creatures were serving him and singing “Holy , holy holy is the Lord of heaven’s armies. The whole earth is filled with His glory.” Isaiah reaction. I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. However, one of the creatures came to Isaiah and touched his lips with a lump of coal from the altar. He said, “your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” God asked for help and Isaiah replied, “Here I am. Send me.”

When we read the bible, we see how God wants us to live. By the examples of prophets in the Old Testament like the experiences of Isaiah here , commands from God, Jesus in the New Testament and the apostles as they spread the good news, the bible is a manual for living the best way we can. When we do what we were made to do , love God and our neighbors, we find happiness in all we do. From the basic everyday tasks, the fun things, and the amazing things. Isaiah literally finds the Lord. He sees Him face to face and is overawed by his own weaknesses and all the bad things he has done. Just like us, we do things we are not happy about, and then when we see how God loves us, we feel bad, really bad, and maybe say to ourselves that God doesn’t want us. God’s love however is bigger than that, if you ask for forgiveness, “Your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven,” He can use you, and will provide you with the support you need. Then your only response is “Here I am. Send me.”

Holy God, thank you for wanting each one of us to turn to you and then use our different talents as we say “Here I am. Send me.” Thank you for the joy in our lives as we do this. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
