Good News

1 Corinthians 15: 1-11v 1 “Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it.”

We hear in this account that Paul, the apostles and 500 other people were witnesses to the risen Christ. People who saw a real body after it had died and been buried, eating, and drinking again. The important message is that Christ died for our sins.  Paul was transformed by understanding this message. He concludes this passage by saying that it doesn’t matter who preaches” for we all preach the same message”

My daughter was watching “The Walking dead” and as she moved back home for a while my husband and I started watching it too and of course continued long after she moved to her own place again. We used to talk about the episodes and where all shocked when they reached the research center and found out that it wasn’t the virus that was making everyone after they died a Zombie but something in everyone’s brains that made them a Zombie when they died. Although this is just a story, like all good stories the closer to the truth they are the more believable. The reality of being human is we all have the potential to be good or bad on earth and that is a choice we make. We are made in God’s image and can only find that ultimate peace, love and joy in God. Mind , body and spirit united. To have an eternal future after we die, we must believe in the Good News of the risen Christ. Of a loving God who protects us and watches over us during the ups and downs of life on earth despite the good and bad choices we make. We are then offered a “room in his mansion” when we die, of which there are many. If we can find joy in singing God’s praises here on earth, what will it be like in heaven?

Prayer: Mighty Lord, thank you for sending us your Son, who died for our sins, and the Good News of the bible so that we might join in praising you now and forever. Amen.
