Psalm 32v 11 So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey Him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!
Oh what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. “The Lord says. “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey Him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!
When my eldest daughter was in highschool she came home after having an assembly about cancer most upset as they said that everyone knew someone who had had cancer. As a teenager when being the same as everyone else is so important she was struggling to be part of the cancer conversation. The year she was born her granny had her first bout with cancer, a lumpectomy and then radiation. She took what was then an experimental drug tamoxifen every day for five years. However, as a family it was obviously all put behind us as our daughter was not aware of it. Something that was traumatic at the time had been left behind in our family history and we were all moving forward. Joyfully. Although shocked that she did not know , once e had told he of her connection to someone with cancer , she was able to live joyfully , understanding that yes everyone knows someone who had had cancer.

That is what David experienced not with illness but with his disobedience to God. “Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt.” “When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.” “Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone”
We all live with things we regret we have done, sometimes letting these things define who we are for many years instead of living in the joy of being Cancer free as my Mum did. God is a forgiving God to all who go to Him. Start today to be truly sorry for something you have done, then live joyfully!
