Romans 5: 1-5v 5 “We are not ashamed to have this confidence, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
We have peace with God because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done So we brag because of our confidence that we will receive glory from God. But that’s not all. We know that suffering creates endurance, endurance creates character, and character creates confidence.
There are many quotes about life that I have enjoyed over the years and there was a popular wallpaper that a friend had in her bathroom like the one below.
The bible has many popular quotes too, and this one about suffering leading to endurance, character and confidence is a good one too. Being a “lifelong learner” was part of my work life mantra so going on courses to keep current was something I have always done. When was the last time you did a course to improve your spiritual understanding? How can you build character and confidence in your faith without perseverance and to some studying is suffering? The choice to spend your “leisure “time with God is a tough decision to make and other thing in your life will suffer. Maybe the Holy Spirit is lovingly nudging you to spend more time with God over the summer or to think of signing up for a course in September?
Prayer: Holy God thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit freely given to all who believe in your Son Jesus Christ. Help us to increase our knowledge of you and to have the confidence to show your love to those around us today. Amen.
