Keep on

Luke 11: 1-13v 9 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.”

Jesus was with His disciples but praying by himself. When he finished, they asked Lord, teach us to pray.” He said: “Father may your name be kept holy. May your kingdom come soon. Give us each day the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.” He then told a story to further their knowledge about a friend who asked his neighbor for bread to feed guest’s late at night. He kept knocking at the door and his persistence was rewarded. And so, I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.”

Why is it a good idea to read the bible every day? To pray without ceasing? To keep on asking, to keep on seeking and to keep on knocking? Because we yield to temptation every day, we don’t forgive those around us, and we take more than we need. Our humanness is strongly built in even as we strive for godliness. Just think about what you have done today or maybe yesterday. Were you sad, angry, jealous, frightened, lonely, bored, frustrated? Don’t give up. Keep on praying. Keep on reading the bible. Keep on asking for what you need, and the door will be opened to you.”
