Psalm1 v 3 “They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.”
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the wicked or join in with mockers. Those who delight in the law, meditating on it day and night. “They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Sinners will have no place among the godly. For the Lord watches over the path of the godly.
The bible often gives us everyday images and here is another. God wants us to be like a tree. I love the images of tree painted of northern Ontario by the group of seven. Lonely trees standing tough despite the strong winds of winter. I have walked many sea fronts in the UK and seen trees growing in the direction of the winds. Seen huge trees in Cathedral grove 800 years old and small wizened trees on mountains. And added to the image of the tree are the words, bearing fruit each season. I am reassured that whatever season you are in you can have a chance to grow in your faith and help others.
Look at a tree today and meditate on the words of psalm 1. And this quote from a movie: –
When there is a storm. And you stand in front of a tree. If you look at its branches, you swear it will fall. But if you watch the trunk, you will see its stability.” –The Revenant (2015)
Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for watching over us as we journey through the seasons of life to produce fruit for you. Amen.
