Sabbath, Silence and Solitude

Sabbath– intentionally preserving one day of every seven days to rest, delight and be delighted in by God who wants to restore us for the coming week.

Silence is intentionally pursued to experience separation from constant distraction and noise so we can be fully present to God.

Solitude is intentionally pursued to experience separation from busy crowds and constant activity so we can be alone with God.

“Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world”1 John 4:4

“In the relentless busyness of modern life, we have lost the rhythm between work and rest…Our culture supposes that action and accomplishment are better then rest, that doing something – anything- is better than doing nothing. Because of our desire to succeed, to meet the ever-growing expectations, we no not rest. Because we do not rest, we lose our way.” Wayne Muller from the book “Soul Feast” by Marjorie J Thompson.

Today I have lost my way.

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him” Psalm 37:7
