1 Timothy 1:12-17 v 14 “Our Lord was very kind to me. Through His kindness he brought me to faith and gave me the love that Christ Jesus shows people.”
V 16 “However, I was treated with mercy so that Christ Jesus could use me, the foremost sinner, to demonstrate patience.
Paul is writing to Timothy, a genuine child in faith. He tells how he; Paul was on the path of unbelief. Arrogantly Paul shouted loudly as he went around the country persecuting Christians. In this letter Paul says our Lord was very kind to me. Through His kindness he brought me to faith and gave me the love that Christ Jesus shows people.” Jesus came to save sinners. However, I was treated with mercy so that Christ Jesus could use me, the foremost sinner, to demonstrate patience. Worship and glory belong forever to the eternal King, the immortal, invisible, and only God. Amen.
One of my grandsons was sick this week so I was able to have the day with him so he could get better. I made a lot of noise banging some pots and he found a pot to bang, and we marched around the room as I sang “The Grand old duke of York”. He thought it was fun to follow me and make some noise. On our own in his home, we didn’t bother anyone. However, this week I have also been distracted by the changes in the world around me, the fall weather approaching as noted by the leaves beginning to fall, the death of Queen Elizabeth, the start of the new school year, and kindness and patience have fled and I have arrogantly marched around and been tired and irritable.

So today was a reminder of God’s love for me, that because of that love I am able to change my behavior, to concentrate on being kind and patient and to worship the eternal King, the immortal, invisible, and only God. Amen.
