Luke 15: 1-10 v 7 I can guarantee that there will be more happiness in heaven over one person who turns to God and changes the way he thinks and acts than over 99 people who already have turned to God and have His approval.”
Luke is writing about what Jesus did and said, what our priorities should be whilst on earth. How we can make God and the angels happy by what we are doing. First, all the tax collectors and sinners came to listen to Jesus. The Pharisees and the scribes, learned men in charge of the Church, complained. Jesus reacted to this complaint by telling stories. First of a shepherd who had one hundred sheep and lost one and rejoiced when he found it. The second of a woman who had ten coins and lost one, who then calls her friends and celebrates when she found it.

This week I have been looking at what the bible says about angels. How the spiritual world and our world are connected. How angels are sent by God to protect us, often invisible but sometimes acting as a stranger who helps when needed. The stories told here in Luke, can also be found in Mathew. Jesus emphasizes the importance of speaking to sinners, with the hope that one may turn to God. The result? Happiness in heaven!
Hebrews 13 v 2 states “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Again, a connection between the spiritual realm and earth.
Finding a lost sheep makes the shepherd happy. Finding a lost coin makes a women celebrate. God’s angels are happy about one person who turns to God and changes the way they think and act.
Prayer: Loving Father thank you for sending angels to protect us. Show us how we can love others around us and encourage a change in attitude in Jesus name we pray . Amen.
