Jeremiah 8:18-9:1 v 20 “The harvest is past, summer has ended, and we haven’t been saved.”
Jeremiah is writing about the sorry he feels for his people “I am sick at heart!” “They make me furious with their idols, with their foreign gods. “There are medicines and doctors in Gilead. Why hasn’t the health of my dear people been restored?” He wishes his eyes were a fountain of tears “ so that I could cry day and night for my people.”

I know that often I have switched from the news channel “sick at heart” for the deaths, the racism, the hatred for others that I see. How about you? To pray for renewed faith and see churches without children. Our tears flow for those close to us we have lost recently. So, to hear the same worries from Jeremiah, over 2,000 years ago, are we really moving forward? Summer is ending officially next week; the harvest is being gathered as I write this.
Prayer: Holy God we are sorry for all the bad things we have done in the past, we put our trust in your son Jesus Christ as we turn through the fountain of our tears to you to be saved. Amen.
