Be generous and share

1 Timothy 6:6-19 v 18 “Tell them to do good, to do a lot of good things, to be generous, and to share.”

Be content with what they have. As long as we have food and clothes we should be satisfied. Certainly, the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Pursue what God approves of: a godly life, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the Christian faith. Place your confidence in God who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. Tell them to do good, to do a lot of good things, to be generous, and to share.”

My two-year-old grandchild is learning how to share. In playing with his Papa, he took a toy from him and gave him another and told Papa he was sharing! He still has some things to learn!  That same Papa likes to buy lottery tickets, as more money is always welcome! Living on a fixed income and seeing the price of food increasing I wonder if I should look for paid work? Then reading this passage I find the answer. Be content with what you have. I have food and clothes. With a regular income I can choose who and what to fight for. My choice is the Christian faith. Confident that God will provide us with everything to enjoy.

Prayer: Holy God thank you for giving me enough to live on and some to share. Help me to be generous with all I have in your name. Amen.
