Lost

Luke 19 : 1-10v “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

This is one of the stories of the New Testament that I remember from childhood. There was a song too with actions that we used to sing similar to this one:-https://youtu.be/NIjQObYF1cU However it was the words of Jesus that struck me when I was reading this passage today. Zacchaeus wanted to give half of his fortune away and Jesus said “salvation has come to this house today. “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

It is a scary thing to be lost. I had a long layover in Holland one time and decided to go into the city and see some of the sights instead of walking around the airport. I did Ok getting into the city as the train was right outside the airport and there were plenty of self-serve kiosks so I was able to buy a return ticket. However, coming out of the train station I had no idea which way to go and at the time did not have a cell phone with google maps so I turned right and started walking. Although I found long streets and canals they all seemed to be very quiet and I wondered where the “tourist were.” Eventually I began to get worried and so decided to turn back and that was when I was really worried I couldn’t remember the way back to the train station. Having wondered around for a while getting more and more anxious, I finally found a taxi and took it back to the train station, about a 10 minute drive . When the taxi pulled up at the front of the train station there were lots of people and things going on. I felt like Zacchaeus must have done when he jumped down from the tree realizing that Jesus wanted to come to his house. Excited and so glad to be among familiar surroundings. To be lost and then returned to safety is a wonderful thing. I didn’t have too much time to explore so I went back to the comfort of the airport and had something to eat before finding my plane home. Just as there is comfort in the familiar words spoken by Jesus “I came to seek and find those who are lost.”

Salvation has come to this house today.” Luke 19 v 10

Prayer: Heavenly Father Thank you for sending Jesus to seek and find those who are lost. For the comfort of your words in the bible as we seek to know more. Amen
