Colossians 1 11-20 v 18 “Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is the first in everything.”
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He made the things we can see and the thigs we can’t see. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together. “Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is the first in everything.”
Watching the new kindergarten children line up for the morning meeting at school they have already learn’t where to look to see who is at the front of the line and how to stand behind that person and then follow them to the meeting space. The one at the front is happy to be in that position and makes sure all the other children are behind.
Today’s passage is a reminder of some of the first lessons we should have learn’t as a Christian. That Christ is the leader of our line every day. We might jostle for position behind Him especially if we are His body. Some days we might be His eyes to see others in need, His feet to walk towards issues of the marginalized or His arms to hold others in times of stress. And when we lose our way, get frustrated by the weather, where we are going on our faith journey we can be comforted by the fact “He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father we thank you for giving us a real life model in the form of your son Jesus Christ to always be at the front of the line for us to follow. To be a bridge between the things we can see and the things of the unseen world. To remember as we go about our daily lives that Christ is the first in everything. Amen.
