God rewards

Isaiah 49: 1-7 v 4 “I replied, but my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose. Yet I leave it all in the Lord’s hand; I will trust God for my reward.”

The people of God at this point are scattered around the then known world. But shouting this proclamation starts with Listen, pay attention! Although hidden the Lord says, “You are my servant, you will bring me glory.” I replied, but my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose. Yet I leave it all in the Lord’s hand; I will trust God for my reward.” God then says you will not only be a light to Israel but a light to the gentiles to bring my salvation to the ends of the earth. People including Kings and Princes will listen to you because of the Lord, the faithful one, who has chosen you.”

This time in the church calendar is called Epiphany described in Wikipedia as: an experience of a sudden and striking realization. Generally, the term is used to describe a scientific breakthrough or a religious or philosophical discovery.

In these ancient words of the bible what is the discovery for me today? Well often in what I am doing I feel discouraged, who listens to what I am saying, how do I relate to those around me and do I ever relate to those in higher places like Kings and Princes? For me the answer is to trust God for my reward. To keep plugging along in the way I was built to be , using the gifts and talents I have. Once you listen and pay attention to God things happen that you can never imagine. I have been given the gift of imagining great things and with Gods help all things are possible if it is what He wants for you. So, keep peeling potatoes, cleaning your house, and keeping fit as you never know where He will take you and hat His rewards will be.

“Princes will bow down because of the Lord, the faithful one, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.” Isaiah 49 v 7b

Prayer: Almighty God who sees the needs of the world help us to listen and pay attention to what you want us to do and to know that leaving the results in your hands is enough reward. Amen.
