Psalm 40 v 1-11v 6 “I said to the Lord, “you are my God!” Listen, O Lord, to my cries for mercy!”
O Lord, rescue me from evil people, who stir up trouble all day long, set a trap to catch me. “I said to the Lord, “you are my God!” Listen, O Lord, to my cries for mercy!” O Sovereign Lord, the strong one who rescued me, you protected me on the day of battle. Do not let evil schemes succeed. Don’t let liars prosper here in our land.
Is life always an uphill climb? These psalms were sung by the pilgrims as they walked to Jerusalem which is in fact an uphill walk. Do we easily see the bad things about the people around us and live in the fear of being caught in their trap all along this uphill climb of life? Let my enemies be destroyed by the very evil they have panned for me. Do our plans go astray by our own corrupt nature? Is the evil inside us or in others around us?

Whatever uphill battles you are fighting today, cry out to the Lord. The strong one who rescues you.
Almighty God protect me from the evil around me and within. Let your love and peace shine onto those I meet today as you protect us on the uphill climbs of life. You are my God. Amen.
