Matthew 5:13-20 v 19b “But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.”
You are salt. You are light. Let your good deeds shine out to others, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father. I, Jesus, did not come to abolish the Law of Moses. I tell you the truth. Not the smallest piece of the law will disappear until it has achieved its purpose. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.”
If you have ever baked something with too much or too little salt even though you only add a ¼ or ½ a teaspoon you can tell. If you watch cooking shows you will often hear the words: ‘It needs more seasoning” meaning salt. In your everyday world you understand how important it is. So, you obey the rules of the recipe.
When you finally find a candle or a flashlight after the power goes out at night, or you are camping and the sun goes down and you light a lantern you put it up on a counter or a table or higher if possible. Another rule that was taught to you or observed by you, and you obey.

Jesus came to this world so that you could continue to follow the rules of Moses. He tells you the truth about how you can be the best you can be by observing the actions of and following Jesus’s example. He wants you to be salt, to be light and to obey the laws.
Prayer: Holy Father teach us what we need to know to be salt and light to others. Help us to obey the laws of Moses and save us a place in your house. Amen.
