Planted, watered growing!

1 Corinthians 3 1-9 v 6 “I ( Paul) planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.”

When Paul visited Corinth for the first time he talked to the people as infants , young children not ready for solid food. And they are still not ready because they are jealous of each other and they quarrel with each other. Does this not show that they are the same as those who live by their sinful nature? Who is Paul? Who is Apollos? We are God’s servants. Each of us did the work God gave us. “I  planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.” The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. For we are both God’s workers. You are God’s building.

“I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger” 1 Corinthians 3 v 2

In this passage today Paul is talking to a group of Christians in Corinth who are stuck. They started out as ‘babies” being taught with simple language and actions by Paul. They were then “watered” by Apollos who challenged them with more complex ideas. But that led to jealousy and conflict. Without trusting God to help them to grow they stayed as babies in their faith.  If you read your bible and pray to God but don’t look for the answers to those prayers in your daily life then maybe you are not growing too. If you do good deeds but quickly get burnt out as “you are the only one doing the work” are you letting God help you grow? Using the talents of those God has put beside you to help? If you are frustrated that the worship service you attend always has errors in execution , are you missing the message from God?

Let God help you grow today.

Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for the wise people that surround me, for the loving help that others offer and for your love that allows me to grow.. Amen.
