Light

Ephesians 5, 8-14v 8b-9 “So live as people of the light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.”

Once you were full of darkness, now you have light from the Lord. “So live as people of the light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.” Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible.

Spring is officially here. The clocks ‘sprang” forward to make the most of the lighter days. The lighter evenings are encouraging walks in the evening, so families are heading to the park or to feed the ducks. Young people are out for a stroll, and gardeners are beginning to remove the winter planters. Living in the lighter evenings is good. And our souls, our deeper connection to God? As the quiet contemplation of lent begins to look forward to the celebration of Easter, carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Don’t worry about what your neighbors are doing, think about what is right and true and follow your heart. Live as people of the light.

Prayer: Heavenly Father who sent His only Son to suffer for us all, we thank you for the growing light of our days and the love in which we choose to live. Amen.
