Psalm 130 v 3 “ Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?
From the depths of despair, I call for help. Hear my cry, pay attention to my prayer. Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? You offer forgiveness. I have put my hope in His word. I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn. For with the Lord there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows.
This week has been like this psalm a mixture of despair, longing to be close to God and realizing that I am not ever good enough to be close to Him , then having hope in his word and unfailing love. I guess that is how we survive. Realizing that we are not perfect and however hard we try we need constant forgiveness. That the wonderful word of God needs to be acted on everyday by not gossiping about our friends but loving even our enemies. That being fearful and overwhelmed about the end of each of our lives makes us struggle with pointless priorities when we should be living everyday with the love of God surrounding us. Luckily our God is a forgiving God and gives us hope for survival. What an amazing image, sentries longing for the dawn. Yes, we need in the darkness to long for the Lord. He will show us how to love the unlovable, care for the whole world, as His redemption overflows.

Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive us today for letting our fears guide us rather than your word and your love. Thank you for the example of your Son who showed us how to live in this world with love and kindness. As the dawn breaks may we survive by showering your unfailing love on the world. Amen.
