1 Peter 2: 19-25 v 25 “Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.”
God is pleased when you endure unjust treatment. If you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you. God called you to do good, even if it means suffering. Christ is your example, and you must follow in his steps. He left His case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. He carries our sins to the cross, so that we can be dead to sin. By his wounds you are healed. Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.”

There is a new movie out that I haven’t seen yet but my husband and I really enjoyed the first of the series “Guardians of the Galaxy” where a rag tag group of space travelers saved the galaxy! An unlikely group united in one vision to save others. So, who is this Shepherd, who looks after our souls, the deepest most treasured part of us? Who formed us into an unlikely group of followers to suffer for doing good? The list is there in front of you in this passage. He personally carried our sins in His body on the Cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. He is our Shepherd, the guardian of our souls. This enables us all to take a deep breath, and go about each day doing good, and leave the rest up to God.
Heavenly Father who cares for each one of us, guide us today to the good you want us to do in the name of your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
