Purpose

John 10: 1-10v 10 “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

Jesus told a story about the Good Shepherd and His sheep. “He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After He has gathered His own flock, He walks ahead of them, and they follow Him because they know His voice.” Those who heard Jesus didn’t understand what He meant so He explained. I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

“Jesus said “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10 v 10b.

Who doesn’t at some time in their lives think about their purpose. What unique gifts do I have and how will I use them? Does it really matter what I do for those around me, for my neighbors, for the planet? If you, like me, have ever lived with someone who truly hates their job you will understand that yes it does matter. If you listen to scientists about climate change yes it does matter if we reduce our garbage, recycle, and reuse everyday items. And then there are those you love. If you find the life you are living is destroying relationships within your family and your neighbors instead of giving them a rich and satisfying life then you need to go through the gate of the Good Shepherd, to listen to His voice. What is your purpose?

Prayer: Heavenly Father open my heart to the truth in the bible, to the words of Jesus as I accept Him as my savior today. Help me listen to the Holy Spirit to understand your purpose for me as I follow where you lead. Amen.
