1 Peter 2: 2-10 v 5 You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
You may grow up, having tasted that the Lord is good. You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
My husband and I helped to raise a service dog for the NSD. We had heard the stories of how a service dog can change the lives of the families with children with special needs so from six weeks to 18 months old we taught the puppy to walk at heal, using treats, to come when called, and as he grew skills that would help him in his role as a helper to a child with autism. We attended classes once a week and learnt with him. Eventually he left us and joined his family where he was to work.

In this passage we are called on a similar journey. When you believe in something important then it is important to grow. Through worship and bible study, spiritual sacrifices, giving your time and attention to God. Praying through Jesus Christ, our precious corner stone. You are changed by this. Understanding the love of God that is big enough to allow you to do things such as train a service dog then let it go to do its job.
Prayer: Heavenly father thank you for the example of your Son who chose living stones, to help Him on his journey to become the cornerstone that many have rejected. Help us today to grow in our faith, nurtured by spiritual conversations in the name of Jesus Crist. Amen.
