Psalm 66: 8-20 v19 “But God did listen. He paid attention to my prayer.”
Let the whole world bless our God and loudly sing His praises. He keeps our feet from stumbling. You have tested us, through slavery, fire, and flood. But you brought us to a place of great abundance. Come and listen and I will tell you all He did for me. If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, He would not have listened. But God did listen. He paid attention to my prayer.” Praise God.

When I was growing up in an Anglican Church in the UK, I often wondered about why we prayed every week for people in nursing homes. Year after year we prayed for the same elderly person by name. There was never any response of praise to God for answered prayer. Was God listening? Let’s imagine there were 300 people in church most weeks (sometimes more) x 52 weeks of the year x 2 years for a total of 31,200 prayers just for one person! I am not able to tell you if God listened, how all those prayers affected the life of one elderly lady, but that is a problem more of the Church as an organization. Today God has led me to a different path, and although I still stumble, I can tell you of how my prayers have been answered. I was at a session at Five Oaks in Paris, some years ago, and they handed out an envelope and we had to pick out a piece of paper and then pray about it. Mine was about family gatherings, the first answer to prayer reminding me how important they were to me. At the time I was overly anxious about getting the food on the table as our family grew, and how to seat everyone. The events were just a series of tasks to be completed not something to enjoy. More praise is due to God as I continue to find time to enjoy any family get together. At the last get together a few weeks ago I was able to talk to most of the family members I had not seen for a while and enjoyed listening to how their lives were going. When I ask for help those around me understand my request. Praise God! He has brought me to a place of abundance as our family continues to grow. He paid attention to my prayer. Remember today that God listens to our prayers and spend some time seeing how He has responded in your life.
Prayer: Holy God, thank you for listening, for nudging me to do better, for leading me to a place of great abundance. Hallelujah! Amen.
