Jesus the judge.

Matthew 16: 21-28 v 25 ‘If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. “

Jesus began to tell his disciples plainly, that he was going to Jerusalem, and he would suffer many terrible things. Peter took Jesus aside and began to reprimand Him. Jesus responded, you are seeing things from a human perspective, not God’s. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. “Is anything worth more than your soul? The Son of Man will come with His angels in the glory of the Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.

Body, mind, and soul. That is what we are all made of. I spent many years of my life helping others to look after their bodies. I talked to lots of them about lifestyle options. And eventually as I got somewhat braver, I added in a few conversations about faith too. Now I start my day always with a bible reading and meditation on His word. Is anything worth more than your soul? Jesus didn’t need negative people around Him and told Peter plainly. He was there to do God’s work. That’s what we are all here to do so that Jesus can judge you by your deeds. So give up today the human needs to be liked by those around you and focus on what God would like you to do.

“For the Son of Man will come with His angels in the glory of His Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.” Matthew 16 v 27

Prayer: Almighty God who values kindness and hospitality and caring for those in need show us the things that you value and give us the tools we need to do your work. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
