Hebrews 1:1-4, 2: 5-12, 1 v 4 “This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave Him is greater than their names.”
In these final days He has spoken through His son. The son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave Him is greater than their names. And furthermore, it is not angels who will control the future world we are talking about. Now when it says, “all things”, it means nothing is left out. So now Jesus and the ones He makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.

Sometimes when reading the bible, the verses that stand out make so much sense and are so relevant to our daily lives it’s amazing. Then there are passages like this one that despite reading again and again seem complicated and difficult to understand in the context of our lives today. In a world where we are trying to dismantle the hierarchy of past cultures, we encounter the statement that Jesus is greater than angels. His name is greater than their names. Nothing is left out. Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters. So there it is our belief in Jesus puts us on the level of being a brother or sister to Him, above the angels! As we humbly worship Him, He works through us, sustained by the mighty power of His command.
Prayer: Holy God, and Holy Son who together made the world and have command over all that is in it we thank you for calling us brothers and sisters to Jesus. Amen.
