I am the Vine

.

John 15: v1-2 Then Jesus said “I am the true vine, and my Father takes care of the vineyard. He removes everyone of my branches that doesn’t produce fruit. He also prunes every branch that does produce fruit to make it produce more fruit.”

The new growing season is coming in Ontario and driving around the countryside or walking down the street the signs are everywhere. In the reading today from the gospel of John, Jesus describes himself as a vine, and God as the one who takes care of the vineyard. Something that can be related to in today’s world. In Ontario, the crops may be corn or vegetables or trees and flowers in your garden but with loving care and attention all produce a larger crop. Having a loving Father who cares for you through Christian friends, words from the bible and circumstances enables us to be kind to ourselves and those around us.

Prayer: Loving Father, thank you for caring for me today so that I may grow to follow you in all I do. Amen
