Mark 6 v14-29 “ When he ( Herod) listened to John, he would become very disturbed, and yet he liked to listen to Him.”
This bible story recounts the death of John the Baptist ordered by Herod Antipas, son of Herod the great who was the Roman ruler when Jesus was born. Herod Antipas enjoyed hearing John talk although he was disturbed by what he said. He knew that John was a fair and holy man, so he protected him. However his wife Herodias held a grudge against John and wanted to kill him.

Bible stories often point out the not so good qualities of our human lives. How decisions made can impact others. How complicated life can be. How our partners in life influence us, our friends and responsibilities in our jobs.
King Herod heard about Jesus and was trying to work out who Jesus was. How could this Jesus be John the Baptist when he Herod ordered his head to be cut off?
We all need to work out who Jesus is in our lives. John started the conversation, making people feel uncomfortable about their lives. So think today about what He means to you.
Prayer: Loving Father thank you for the life of Jesus who I accept as my savior today. Amen.
