Wisdom from our Elders

Joshua 24: 1-2a, 14-18 v 14 “Serve the Lord, and serve Him with integrity and faithfulness. Get rid of the Gods your ancestors served on the other side of the Euphrates River and in Egypt and serve only the Lord.”

Joshua was 110 years old when he reminded the Israelites that they had to make a choice and serve the one Lord. Shortly after seeing that they chose to serve the Lord he died.

Today we must make the choice too. Sometimes old and wise people come along side us and remind us of our history and ask us again to make the choice to serve the Lord, and to serve Him with integrity and faithfulness. As the stories of our colonial heritage are being told to us, as we look through the eyes of the elders of the First Nations People, we must make a choice. To serve the Lord and build relationships with integrity and faithfulness.

Prayer: Holy One, guide us along the path of truth and reconciliation, to put you first in our thoughts every day. Amen.
