Salt and Faith

Mark 9: 38-50  V “Jesus said, “ Don’t stop him, no one who works a miracle in my name can turn around and speak evil of me.”

At the end of this passage is the quote about salt. V 50 “Salt is good. But if it loses its taste, how will you restore its flavor? Have salt within you, and live in peace with one another.”

Most of this passage talks of others who cause people in the church to lose their faith. Encouraging others to do this is not a good thing. One of the churches main goals is to build faith in others. People in Churches however have varying thoughts on their faith. The disciples were hearing of a person outside their group or Church doing good things in Jesus’ name. Jesus said, “Don’t stop him, no one who works a miracle in my name can turn around and speak evil of me.”

As faith takes on  new ideas in different people, members of a church leave to go in different directions. This is not a concern as long as those people retain their faith or their “saltiness” If good things continue to happen for all then they are in the place they need to be.

As individuals continue to have salt within you then live in peace with one another.

Prayer: Loving Father as you send us out into the world to love our neighbors, remind us to support fellow Christians wherever they are in their faith journey so that no one looses their saltiness. Amen.
