1 Samuel 2: 1-10 v 2 “There is no one holy like the Lord, There is no one but you, O Lord. There is no rock like our God.”
In the first part of this story Hannah was sad and unhappy as she could not have children. However God answered her prayers and she gave birth to a son Samuel. Here we see the continued effect on Hannah of this wonderful gift. She initially found peace from her sadness after praying to God and talking to the priest Eli who prayed with her. This is her prayer after she left Samuel with the priest as she had promised to dedicate her child to God’s service. In the Old Testament God’s were a plenty so to choose one God was counter to the beliefs at the time. The image of God like a rock , stable and strong, and later in this prayer the need we all have that ” humans cannot succeed by their own strength” were amazing words for a women showing her intelligence and deep understanding and trust she had developed in her relationship with God.
Today I see similar relationships and trust in God exhibited in women who pray out loud like Hannah , whose actions speak to a loving God, and a desire to make the world a better place because of that love in their lives. There is no one but you O Lord. There is no rock like our God. If there is something missing in your life pray to the God who hears and loves you, and join in the new experiences that will be part of your life as you put your trust in Him.

Prayer: Holy Lord, I put my deepest concerns in your hands today. Thank you for enriching my life with your love and joy, the one God, in whom I trust for all the good things that I need, our rock. Amen
