Luke 23 49-56 v53” Then he took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in a long sheet of linen cloth and laid it in a new tomb that had been carved out of rock.”

Jesus’s friends stood at a distance watching Him die. Joseph of Arimathea in Judea went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Late Friday afternoon His body was placed in a tomb.
Jesus had friends who watched Him die. He also had friends in high places. They were able to have an audience with Pilate who gave them permission to take the body away. It was carefully wrapped in linen and placed in a tomb that had been newly carved out of rock.
Jesus was dead. Pilate unable to decide about his execution would have required proof from his soldiers that he was dead otherwise he would not have released the body. Typically, the bodies were left to rot and be eaten by animals and certainly not lovingly wrapped in cloth and placed in a tomb. After the humiliation of His death, his body was well looked after.
Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive us our sins that required the crucifying of your son Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice for the world, then, now and for all to come. Amen
