Praise

Psalm 30 v 4 “Make music to praise the Lord, you faithful people who belong to Him. Remember His holiness by giving thanks.”

This psalm by David records how God stood by Him “ O Lord my God, I cried out to you for help, and you healed me.” God’s anger lasts only a moment. His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may last for the night but there is a song of joy in the morning. O lord be my helper. You have changed my sobbing into dancing. You have removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy so that my soul may praise you with music and not be silent.

Faith is a journey and as I prepared for a mission trip, just before I retired, I was humbled at the young people who had heard the call of God and were going out into the world to teach others about Him. Here David describes the wonder of the Lord and that making music and praising Him is part of the job of faithful people. How can you be silent when “clothed with joy so that my soul may praise you.” Praise God today as you do the dishes, as you drive your car, as you prepare for bed. Sing a praise song that you remember or a favorite hymn or look on YouTube for a variety of praise songs from country to soul to traditional. Whatever type of music you like God has made a song for you to praise Him.

Prayer: Holy Father we thank you for the joy we find in praising you today and always. Amen.
