Romans 8:14-17 v 17 “If we are his children, we are also God’s heirs. “
All who are guided by God’s Spirit are God’s children. Not the spirit of slaves that leads to fear, but the Spirit that calls out, Abba, Father.” If we are his children, we are also God’s heirs. “If we share in Christ’s suffering in order to share His glory, we are heirs together with Him.
My grandchildren enjoy playing with matryoshka dolls, toys that I inherited from my parents, things that my children played with when they visited their grandparents. I also see my dad’s receding hairline in my son, and my husband’s lazy eye in my grandchildren. Objects that are inherited by choice, along with physical signs of a connection between generations.

In this passage today from Romans we can see the same relationships when we choose to be guided by the Holy Spirit, as God’s children. There is a connection between all generations and God. Outwardly others should be able to see that we are God’s children. Not like slaves, forced to obey, but intimately connected to call God “Abba, Father”.
Prayer: Holy Father thank you for making us your children by believing in your son Jesus Christ. Amen.
