1 Kings 19 : 1-4, ( 5-7), 8-15a. v 12 “After the earthquake there was a fire. But the Lord wasn’t in the fire. And after the fire was a quiet whispering voice.
Elijah was being hunted down to be killed. He ran away, but eventually was exhausted and lay down to sleep. God gave him food for his journey, and he was able to travel 40 days and nights and found a cave in Horeb, the mountain of God. God asked, “What are you doing here?” In the quiet whispering voice God told Elijah to go back.
God says he will look after us as his children. He will not give us anything that we cannot cope with. But still like Elijah we run, exhausted by the tasks we must do, sometimes far away from where we need to be. But what do we see? A God who gives us nourishment for the road we choose to travel. Who meets us on the mountain where we are. And quietly tells us to go back.

Prayer: Loving God, thank you for your guidance in our lives and your small voice that tells us to go back the same way we came for the help we need. Amen
