Luke 8 v 26-39 v33 “Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the entire heard plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned.”
They arrived in the region across the lake from Galilee. They met a man who was possessed by demons. He had been chained up and was able to break the chains and run into the woods. He was completely under the demon’s power. Jesus gave the demons permission to enter the pigs. The man when clothed and sane wanted to join the disciples. The local people were afraid and told Jesus to leave the area. The man who had been cured was able to travel around and tell everyone of the great things that Jesus had done.
In our lives we all have demons. They might not consume us like the man in the story today who was unable to live in “normal” society or be controlled by it. But our pride getting in the way of a friendship, laziness so that jobs around the house do not get completed. Habits involving eating too much, drinking too much. Excuses for not exercising or connecting with family that are distant. Jesus sees us for who we are and wants to help us to change. If we ask for the demons to be put aside temporarily like into the pigs, the pigs are drowned. These things need to not be in our lives. Wearing new clothes we can be open to being close to Jesus, but He may send you on a different mission.

Prayer: Almighty God we cry out for you to remove the demons in our lives and ask that you bring us to a healthy place and a new direction. Amen.
