Disciple or crowd?

Luke 9: 5- – 62 v 59 “He (Jesus) told another man, “Follow me! “But the man said, “Sir, first let me go to bury my Father.”

This long passage shows us the focus of Jesus ‘s ministry healing the sick, forcing our demons, who He is,“ The Son of Man” . How he is loved by the father as He had a discussion with Moses and Elijah about his upcoming death. How if some villages reject Him move on. That to be a disciple is only for a few and means dropping everything and following Him when asked.

“He broke the loaves apart and kept giving them to the disciples to give to the crowd.” Luke 9 v 16 b

I have often been told we are all disciples of Christ. However, Jesus had only 12 in his inner circle when on this earth. He sent them out and they were able to perform miracles. Some others were able to perform miracles but were not part of the 12 and He said that was OK. “Whoever isn’t against you is for you.” The 12 were special because they instantly gave up everything for Jesus, no questions asked. Those who gave excuses did not become part of this inner circle. Those who were eager to learn were looked after by Jesus, thousands were fed with five loaves and two fishes. To decide if we are in the inner circle or just the crowd? “The one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest” Not our decision! Leave it to God. Keep learning and changing your attitude to be more like Jesus. God will look after the rest.

Almighty God, loving Father, and provider of all we need. Guide us along the road to your peace, love and joy.’ Amen.
