Build and Plant

Jeremiah 1: 4-10  v 10 “Today I have put you in charge of nations and Kingdoms. You will uproot and tear down. You will destroy and overthrow. You will build and plant.”

As in much of the Old Testament God speaks directly to His prophets, being close enough that He can stretch out his hand and touch him. In this passage at the beginning of Jeremiah we see that God talks to the boy Jeremiah and tells Him that “before you were born, I set you apart for my holy purpose” He also says “don’t be afraid of people. I am with you, and I will rescue you.” Today I have put you in charge of nations and Kingdoms. You will uproot and tear down. You will destroy and overthrow. You will build and plant.”

“Don’t be afraid of people. I am with you.” Jeremiah 1 v 8

Not all of us are called to be prophets. But God does have a spiritual job for us all to do that He ordained “before we were even born.” We are not to be afraid. He will be with us. The results will always be good as we build and plant. Often, we feel it is out of our comfort zone, like Jeremiah complaining he is only a boy how can he speak with such authority? If you are struggling with a direction, with what God wants you to do then test it out. Build a relationship with someone who is having a difficult time. Plant an idea with friends and see where it goes. God promises to be with you and rescue you .

Prayer: Loving God be with us today as we reach out to others around us to build relationships and plant ideas for your glory. Amen.
