Persistence

Luke 18: 1-8 v “I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I am going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!”

Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. A woman repeatedly came to a judge until one day he said “I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I am going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!” God will surely give justice to the people who cry out to him day and night.

” I tell you He will grant justice to them quickly.” Luke 18 v 8

The call went out a few months ago now to pray for those in the Ukraine. 24hrs of constant pray was to be offered up to God. All churches in the area were invited to come and pray. I had never attended something like this before but was confident that the Holy spirit would guide me if I did not know what to say. I went late at night as that was when I had the time and expected to walk into an empty church. There were quite a few people there which surprised me. Then the only words that came to me where those from this passage” the people cry out to Him day and night”. So that is what I prayed to the Lord about. It is still true today, the people of Ukraine are still crying out, night and day, we need to keep praying for a peaceful solution for those who are displaced and for the countries that are trying to absorb the many who have fled.

Prayer: Almighty God thank you for listening to our prayers, night, and day as we pray for a peaceful solution to the war in the Ukraine, for all those in the world who are hungry especially those displaced from the Ukraine. For those who are sick and wounded. We pray in the name of your son Jesus Christ who taught us to be persistent. Amen.
