Habakkuk 1: 1-4; 2:1-4v 2:1 “I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guard post. “
Habakkuk is looking at the world around him and finds it difficult to see the good. “Violence is everywhere. Why must I watch all this misery.? I am surrounded by people who love to argue and fight. God answers” if it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. The righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.
I too this week feel like I have been on a watchtower, standing at my guard posts, waiting patiently. Sometimes you look around and see only the bad things. Ask big questions about life, how do we feed the world? How do we look after our elderly as they decline in mental and physical functioning? How do we spend out time when paid work is not a goal? If we hear what the prophets are saying we need to be patient, to be comforted that even if things are slow in coming the time will come when as long as the things we are doing are righteous and with God we will be fulfilled.

Prayer: Holy God thank you for the patience to wait and see the good around me. To engage in difficult conversations and trust that you will provide answers. To always be there. Amen.
