Luke 21: 5-19 v 7 “Teacher”, they asked, “when will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to take place?”
The disciples are talking about the majestic work of the temple. Jesus predicts that “all these things will be demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of the other. “They then asked when will this happen? Jesus replied that many different things had to take place, including wars. But he also said “don’t panic” Jesus talked of brothers and sisters betraying them. But he also said it will be a time to tell your story and He, Jesus will give you the right words to say. Ultimately not a hair on your head will perish. By standing firm, you will win your souls.

We all worry about the future. As we hear about conflicts, disasters, and health challenges around the world we have a similar question. “Is our world being demolished?” How are we to navigate family disagreements, deep seated racial prejudice, and systemic corruption? By standing firm to our faith. By believing in a God who is good. Who provides for our needs and telling others about it. Don’t panic, Jesus will give us the words. So, take a deep breath, and stay calm. Whatever the future must bring not a hair on your head will perish.
Prayer: Almighty God thank you for sending your son Jesus who shows us how to look after our souls in the changing world in which we live. Amen
