Matthew 11:2-11 v4 “Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have seen- “
John the Baptist is in prison, but he sent his followers to see Jesus. Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have seen- “Jesus started talking to the crowd about John the Baptists. Contrasting him with a rich man in a palace. No, you were looking for a prophet and found much more. “I tell you the truth, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. I always like to look around when I am travelling as a passenger in a car and am often delighted by the sights I see. A herd of deer feeding in a field, a bird of pray sitting on a fence posts or tree branch. Children running around at recess, a busy construction site. What have you seen as you ride around or walk this week?
Life is a journey and as we are creations of God, we were made to look for God as well. John the Baptists was in prison. Maybe not such a happy time for him but he was still looking for the Messiah. He wanted to be sure, so Jesus told his disciples Go back to John and tell him what you have seen- “Jesus went on to tell the crowd around Him how important John was. A man in prison? He also said that striving to go to heaven is where we all should be looking to be. What have you seen today that makes you think of God and of heaven ?
Prayer: Almighty God, father of us all, open our eyes today so that we might see a glimpse of heaven. Amen
