Matthew 2: 13-23 V 13 “After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother!”
Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother!” (Route 4) Then returning to Judea and carrying on to the region of Galilee and settling down in the town called Nazareth. ( route 5)
Living in the Northern Hemisphere with a distinct difference between winter, spring, summer and fall, even staying in the same space you are required to make changes to survive. In what we wear and eat and how we manage our houses and even our vehicles as we change from summer to winter tires. God directed Joseph to do what was needed for the survival of His wife and new born son. Jesus was not to remain in Bethlehem, close to the center of Jewish culture in Jerusalem but went to another country, Egypt . Then as a family they travelled all the way back to Nazareth. God had the right plan for Mary and Joseph and He has the right plan for us too. A plan that makes the most of our talents and is good for us. That will see us grow spiritually and give us peace. So as you make plans this year to make changes close to home or further afield, listen for the angel guiding your way.
Prayer: Holy God, guide our thoughts to look for your path as we begin to make plans for the new year. To listen to the angel who shares your will. Amen.
