Adam v Christ

Romans 5: 12 – 19 v 16 “The result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of one man’s sin.”

Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man Jesus Christ. The result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of one man’s sin.” For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being right with God even though we are guilty of many sins. Greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death, through this one man Jesus Christ.

It is easy to fill our time with doing. Working outside the home and in the home. Visiting family and being involved with community groups. Exercising and watching your weight. Playing computer games and watching TV and many others things. This time of Lent, is about a Christian observation of the fact that Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days and through that time he fasted. Today this is observed in many ways by giving up something like chocolate, using a calendar to think about those less fortunate in the world and to be thankful for the blessings we might have. At the end of his wilderness experience He started his ministry which led Him to the Cross and the fasting ends as the journey to the Cross story starts with Palm Sunday when Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey.

“Greater is God’s wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness.” Romans 5 v 17b

This passage in Romans shows us the difference between man and God. That following man ‘s path or Adam leads to condemnation but following God’s path leads to a free gift, being right with God. During this time of Lent take the time between the doing and contemplate on this. Sit quietly and remove the man-made distractions of life and live in the moment with the grace of God. With His free gift of being right with Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father as I sit quietly  in your presence today come closer in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
