Roadblocks

Acts 16: 6-14 v 10 “So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.”

The Holy Spirit prevented them from preaching the word in the provinces of Asia. Again, the Holy Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there, the province of Bithynia, so instead they went through the seaport of Troas. That night Paul had a vision about a man from Macedonia in Greece. “So, we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.” They stayed in the Roman colony of Philippi. They went out one morning on the Sabbath and sat with a group of women gathered there. One of them was Lydia. As she listened to us God opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying.

“But again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there.”
Acts 16 v 7b

Roadblocks are common when driving around where I live at this time of year due to road construction. The main roads are full of slow-moving traffic and when you try and go around them there are many others trying to do the same thing and the side roads are slow too. It can be very frustrating. In our faith journey as we try and reach out to others there seem to be roadblocks at every turn and we get frustrated. However, Paul is travelling many miles and we do not see any frustration in his journey. He just states that the Holy spirit did not want them to go there, so they kept on travelling. When they did get a clear vision, they acted immediately. Went to a place where godly people hung out and started talking and God opened the hearts of a person they were speaking to. They did their part with God and good things happened. When you are on the right path God will open doors for you and good things will happen. Keep going, God through the Holy Spirit is in the roadblocks too.

Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to guide us around the roadblocks in our lives and give us the courage to keep going to find where you want us to be. Amen.
