1 Peter 2: 19-25 v 21 “For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example and you must follow in His steps.”
For God is pleased when conscious of His will, you patiently endure unjust treatment. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you. For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example and you must follow in His steps. He did not retaliate when He was insulted, not threaten revenge when He suffered. He left His case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.”

There is a clear message in this passage today. We are called to do good. You don’t get any credit for being beaten for doing wrong. But if you patiently endure unjust treatment, God is pleased with you. And we have Jesus as our example who gave everything that He had for our sake. So what does that look like for us today? In small things relax when you are caught in traffic, have a long line up at the check out when you are in a hurry. Be patient when life’s plans are messy and answers to prayer are no! God always judges fairly, even when life doesn’t seem to be fair. Turn to your Sheperd when you feel frustrated and find patience when you follow in His steps and trust in the guardian of your soul.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, some days are hard for us, as we are frustrated, angry and confused about our journey in this life. Help us to see your plan and realize that sometimes suffering caused by the world is not your choice for us but how we respond is. Help us to always be patient in our day today as we try and do the good that you require of us. Amen.
