John 10:1-10 v 4 “After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.”
I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber. The gate keeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice. Jesus explained it to them. I am the gate for the sheep. Those who come in by me will be saved. They will come and go freely and find good pasture. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

The choice to watch programs on TV as my husband and I relax in the evening after a busy day being retired is endless. However, there are gateways to programs that we choose to watch that open a rich choice for us, and one of those is called “A Farming Life.” We are learning about the life of farmers in Scotland, some of whom farm sheep. They are always gathering their sheep to take them to different pastures, to give them nutritional supplements or injections to prevent disease. They are constantly watching them and although their days are long and they are out in all kinds of weather they love what they are doing, and they have a rich and satisfying life. Which is why this description of Jesus who gathers His own flock, who follow Him to freely come and go, to find good pasture is a truth I can see, feel and believe. Jesus’s purpose is to give and ours is to follow for a rich and satisfying life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for sending us your Son, Jesus, the good Shepherd, for us to follow. Amen.
