Family Fun Friday N is for Neighbors and Neglect

In the Life application Life Topics Index that I am referring to for this series of family activities the only two ‘n’ words are neighbors and neglect and they are in turn referenced to friendship and loneliness respectively. Under friendship it says, if you desire more friends, begin by being a good friend to others and under loneliness it says, God is concerned about your loneliness; look to Him for an eternal friendship, and trust him to guide you to healthy friendships with others.

People are attracted to a person who is loyal, who listens, who helps, and who encourages. Our children have different wants and needs as they grow, and sometimes as a family we are all so busy we do not realize that our children are growing up and changing. Our family has many different parts in different provinces and countries so often visits are years apart. When they come to visit, they are surprised at the changes they see and often name the things we ourselves have not noticed. One such comment was made about my daughters who changed from Cinderella’s to Spice Girls from one visit to the next!

“A good friend is a blessing from God.” ( 1 Samuel 18:3-4)

Take time today to listen to help and encourage your children to talk about their wishes and dreams.  Play a game called “I’m Going on Vacation” (or “I Packed My Bag”) is a classic, no-props memory game where players take turns repeating a growing list of items. The goal is to remember all previous items in order and add a new one to start the conversation.
