They could no longer see Him

 Acts 1:6-14 v 9 “After saying this He was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see Him.”

“Lord has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our Kingdom?” He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times.” But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. You will be witnesses to the ends of the earth. After saying this He was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see Him. As they strained to see Him rising into heaven two white robed men suddenly stood among them. “Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday He will return from heaven in the same way that you saw Him go!” They all met together and were constantly united in prayer.

It has been a long cold winter but finally yesterday it was not just warm but hot and sunny. The only person who can control the weather is our creator. Jesus reminded the apostles that there are some things that only God knows. But we do have guidance from the Holy Spirit. Sometimes people show up in our lives, like the two white robed men, and we are reminded about things that we saw and their meaning to us. And what should we do? Follow the example of the apostles, we should also gather with others to pray. Take time today to let go of the things we cannot control and to pray to God through His son Jesus.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, who knows all, guide our hearts to the work you want us to do as witnesses of your love and presence on earth today, as we wait for the return of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
