Psalm 8 v 2 : ” You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength (Greek version- to give you praise) silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.”
Words that stood out
Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength (Greek version- to give you praise) silencing your enemies and all who oppose you. When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers- the moon and the stars you set in place- what are mere mortals that you should think about them. You gave them charge of everything that you made. O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Reflection
When I was in school, I enjoyed the plays that were performed by the Theatre club and when my own children graduated from high school, I missed the concerts that we attended for so many years. And then there are the many performances in Church that the children star in. Yes, they can silence your enemies and all who oppose you! However, we are also reminded that although you put humans in charge of everything that you made, we need to praise your name above all else. It might be something for you to reflect on today. God is good and if things are not going so well for you, lift you eyes to the stars at night and experience the wonder of God who made it all!
Prayer
Almighty God, we thank you for the wonder we see in the children around us especially when they praise your name. As we look at the stars at night, we rejoice with the angels and sing your praises. Amen.
