Special Comfort!

Genesis 24: 34-38, 42-49, 58-67 v 48 “Then I bowed low and worshipped the Lord. I praised the Lord, the God of my master, Abraham, because He had led me straight to my master’s niece to be his son’s wife.”

Words that stood out

“I am Abraham’s servant,” he explained.” Go instead to my father’s house, to my relatives, and find a wife there for my son.” So today when I came to the spring, I prayed this prayer” O Lord of my master please give me success in this mission.” Before I had finished praying in my heart, I saw Rebekah coming out with her water jug on her shoulder. Then I bowed low and worshipped the Lord. I praised the Lord, the God of my master, Abraham, because He had led me straight to my master’s niece to be his son’s wife.” And Isaac brought Rebekah into his mother Sarah’s tent, and she became his wife. He loved her deeply, and she was a special comfort after the death of her mother.

” The the servant told Isaac everything that he had done.” Genesis 24 v 66

Reflection

Sometimes we think our problems today are new. But in the bible, we see significant women being chosen as an answer to prayer, but when it comes to having children then not being able to have them or having to wait a long time. God answers our prayers and chooses the right person for us to share our lives with, but we still have to work at the relationship. There are always ups and downs, but God is there to support us and knows the right path for us. Praise the Lord for the people in your life you are close to today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father we thank you for the people in our lives that are a special comfort to  us and that we can love deeply. Amen.
